A zero kilometer offer
The products that a market offers you are undoubtedly its best value; and the market of Nuestra Señora de África more than fulfills that condition. La recova is a tribute to local, zero kilometer food. They arrive fresh and any Chicharrero knows that, if you are looking for quality, this is where to go: meat, poultry, fruit, vegetables, local cheeses… that come from neighboring Anaga or other areas of the island and are sold with the pride of being a product of the country.
The market is for strolling and observing the building itself, which has its charm. With its tower and two interior courtyards around which the establishments are arranged, loaded with products waiting to be sold. The light, the colors and the smells of this nook stand out, mixing the food with ready-made meals, either local or from any part of the world, as the market goes beyond borders and we can find specialties from many other countries and regions, such as Italy or the Asian continent:
As in any place where good food is valued, bread is also important. In the market there are several bakeries, with local recipes and again, from abroad, with an abundance of German breads… and international and modern pastries.
Throughout the site there are shops where you can buy the ingredients to cook the best food, but also places where you can eat, with different traditional and modern dishes:

And where fish also has its place. Part of the basement of the market is dedicated to the fresh goods that arrive from the fishermen’s guild of San Andrés or from the Dársena Pesquera. Pieces of rock, fish from traditional boats or a great variety of tuna that arrive from more distant areas of the island. We also have the possibility to have lunch right here.
We have spoken so far of the interior of the market, but on its perimeter there is also an accumulation of establishments, many of them catering establishments. The market complements its facilities with an annexed shopping center and the ‘Rambla Azul’ dedicated to handicrafts. On Sundays, a flea market is held there, another excuse to discover the charms of this area of the city.
