Santa Cruz opens the sale of Bonos Consumo to all citizens as of this Thursday

The bonoconsumosantacruz.com website will be available from today onwards.

Consumers must choose the Santa Cruz district in which to redeem them and will have a deadline of November 30.

Santa Cruz opens from today, Thursday, the sale of Bonos Consumo to all citizens. This has been reported by the mayor of the capital of Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, who explained that “citizens can now acquire the three types of bonds to promote consumption in the sectors of Commerce, Restoration and Tourism and Leisure of the municipality, through the website www.bonoconsumosantacruz.com”.

In this regard, the mayor explained that “this initiative, pioneer in the Canary Islands and promoted by FAUCA with the collaboration of the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, aims to encourage consumption in sectors particularly affected by the crisis we are experiencing because of the pandemic”, while adding that “thanks to the grant of 300,000 euros awarded by the Corporation to FAUCA, will mean a direct economic injection of 800,000 euros in the business fabric of the municipality”.

For his part, the CEO of the Development Company, Alfonso Cabello, stressed that “today we are launching one of the most important initiatives that will directly benefit the productive fabric of the capital of Tenerife, as it has an impact on consumption in Santa Cruz establishments”.

Thus, the mayor explained that “those who want to opt for any of these three types of bonds must choose which of them to acquire and pay 50% of its total value, although it will have a real expense of twice what it has cost,” and recalled that “the value of the bond Trade is 15 €, the Restoration of 10 € and the Tourism and Leisure 30 €, for which the consumer must only pay 7.5 €, 5 € and 15 €, respectively.

In this regard, Cabello reported that “in addition, each person may purchase up to a maximum of four vouchers of each type, and that can be redeemed until November 30 in any of the establishments that have been joining the project since the accession of businesses, and stressed that “Santa Cruz becomes the first municipality in the Canary Islands to implement an action of this type as a measure to alleviate the consequences of the health crisis that has suffered, and suffers, the business fabric of the municipality, motivating through it the consumption of proximity and sustaining employment”.

The Councilor for Economic Promotion, Evelyn Alonso, added that this initiative “is one more of those launched by the City Council to boost commercial and business activity in the city, with a clear objective such as mitigating the loss of employment in our city”.

For his part, the president of FAUCA, Abbas Moujir, emphasized that “in addition to having a positive impact on the economy of Santa Cruz, this project will contribute to sustaining employment in the beneficiary sectors of the program which, in turn, have been the most affected by the situation we have been going through in the last year”, He added that “much of the success of the project is due to the supply of establishments that are part of it, so we continue to encourage all businesses in Santa Cruz that meet the requirements for membership to join and benefit from the advantages it offers”.

Thus, in this first phase of sales of Consumer Vouchers, buyers must choose in which district to redeem their voucher in order to benefit and strengthen businesses in all areas of the municipality, thus promoting local consumption. In the case of the Tourism and Leisure Voucher, it will not be necessary to choose the district, since its redemption will be open to the entire municipality. It is also important to note that these bonds may be acquired by any person, whether or not they are residents of Santa Cruz.

The Bono Consumo program, which began last April 9 with the opening of registration of establishments, has more than 200 applications for membership by stores, restaurants, cafes, hotels and other businesses in the municipality, so that businesses that are still interested in joining the program can still register through the website www.bonoconsumosantacruz.com. Once they have been validated, they will immediately become part of the list of participating businesses and, therefore, they will be able to start redeeming the vouchers that consumers can purchase as of today.
