Ten hotels in Santa Cruz will participate in ‘GastroHotel Weeks’ starting this Saturday.
The City Council of Santa Cruz, through the Development Society, presented this Friday the initiative ‘GastroHotel Weeks’, in which ten hotels in the capital of Tenerife will participate to promote the cuisine of the hotel establishments and that will last until November. This initiative, which begins this Saturday at the Hotel Heritage Grand Mencey, consists of offering a menu, dish or tapa created by the resident chef of the hotel together with a chef of regional prestige, for a week, at an affordable price and that have been prepared with products from Anaga, kilometer 0 or Canary Islands products.
The presentation, which took place at the Heritage Grand Mencey Hotel, was attended by the mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, the CEO of the Development Society, Carmen Pérez, the director of the Silken Atlántida Hotel and vice president of ASHOTEL, Gabriel Wolgeschaffen, and more than a dozen regional and local chefs and hotel managers from Santa Cruz who are participating in this initiative.
Thus, the mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, highlighted the importance of a sector such as catering “which accounts for almost 10% of the economy of Santa Cruz, making it one of the most dynamic in the capital and a benchmark in terms of quality values”, and added “it is undoubtedly a great opportunity to promote the cuisine of hotel establishments open to the public, without the need to check in”.
The CEO of the Development Society, Carmen Perez, explained that “this is a very new initiative, which aims to value local cuisine while promoting and visibility of hotel catering, bringing it closer to both the local population and tourists” and added that “this action, which is configured as a strategy to promote hotel gastronomy, involves the participation of the Hotel Heritage Grand Mencey, Silken Atlántida, AC Tenerife, NH Tenerife, Hotel Escuela Santa Cruz, Occidental Contemporáneo, Taburiente, Hotel Adonis, Hotel Colón Rambla and the Urban Anaga”.
As for the prestigious chefs, Carmen Pérez detailed that “these are 10 chefs with Michelin Star or Repsol Suns distinctions, including Erlantz Gorostiza, Seve Díaz, Omar Bedia, Víctor Suárez, Víctor Planas, Adrián Bosh, Alberto González Margallo, Diana Marcelino, Pedro Nel and Gonzalo Tamames” and added that “each hotel will host this initiative for a week at affordable prices”.
“The first of these days will start this Saturday at the Hotel Heritage Grand Mencey, in the Papa Negra restaurant, which can be visited until September 23, and where you can taste the proposal called ‘Carpaccio de medregal al mojo rojo’, designed by chef Erlantz Gorostiza, along with the restaurant team,” said Carmen Perez. The price of this proposal will be 12.50 euros (not including drinks), and those interested in this first edition should make a reservation by calling 922609900.
The director of the Silken Atlántida hotel and vice president of ASHOTEL, Gabriel Wolgeschaffen, stressed that “this initiative will allow citizens to discover high quality gastronomy” and added that “hotels have become a strategic place where great chefs locate their restaurants, even some of them with Michelin Star, we must remember that in hotels we have restaurants and gastro bars that are open to the general public”.
“GastroHotel Weeks” will continue from September 23 to 30 at the Hotel Silken Atlántida, in the Sook restaurant, with the proposal devised by Seve Díaz together with the gastronomic team of the establishment, with a dish with lightly smoked sea bass with Anaga vegetables and gofio de millo, which can be enjoyed for 11 euros (drinks not included), while from September 30 to October 7 the Hotel AC Tenerife will host the third edition, in the restaurant La Azotea del 31, starring Omar Bedia and the team of the establishment.
The NH Tenerife Hotel, at El Ático NH, will be held from October 7 to 14 and will feature Víctor Suárez, while from October 14 to 21 it will be at the Hotel Escuela, at El Mirador de Santa Cruz, with Víctor Planas. At the Macusamba restaurant, in the Occidental Contemporáneo Hotel, it will be held from October 21 to 28 with the proposal designed by Adrián Bosh, while from October 28 to November 4 at Cayote, in the Hotel Taburiente, Alberto González Margallo will participate.
The Niokobok restaurant at the Hotel Adonis Plaza will host this initiative from November 4 to 11 and will feature Diana Marcelino, while from November 11 to 18 the Jarana restaurant at the Hotel Colón Rambla will offer its proposal designed by Pedro Nel. Gastro Hotel Weeks’ will conclude at the Kiki restaurant, located at the Hotel Urban Anaga, from November 18 to 25, with the participation of Gonzalo Tamames.
