Santa Cruz opens registration for the II Gastronomic Route “Taste the Fiestas de Mayo”.

The Development Society of Santa Cruz will celebrate a gastronomic route in the capital of Tenerife during the month of May. This has been reported by the CEO of the Development Company, Alfonso Cabello, who noted that “as part of the founding festivities of the city, we wanted to promote the second edition of a gastronomic route based on products of our land and that will run until the end of May”.

In this regard, Alfonso Cabello explained that “the route, called “Taste the May Festivities”, aims to position the capital of Tenerife as a highlight of Canarian gastronomy and disseminate the wide range of establishments that are in the heart of Tenerife”, and reported that “we are currently in the recruitment phase of participating establishments, so that local interested in participating in this route can register through the website of the Development Company, that is

The mayor also explained that “the gastronomic route, aims to cover the 5 districts of Santa Cruz and consists of tapa and drink for 3.5 euros, with the possibility of taking it on the premises or pick it up at the establishment to taste it at home,” and stressed that “with this type of initiative we try to propose attractive actions for both the fabric of the restoration and for citizenship, in fact, in the first edition involved 69 establishments that dispensed a total of 4.257 tapas, a very striking data and that comes to consolidate the idea that these initiatives are attractive for the sector and also for the population”.

Cabello also noted that “we will again have a webapp, which proved in the last edition to be a very useful tool, and recorded some very important indicators such as 216,631 page views, 9,790 unique users, the 1.009 assessments of the tapas by the public”, and added that “in this edition, the webapp will include information on the local participants, the tapas offered, the ingredients, as well as the schedule in which each local dispenses the cover, and will feature a voting system for the best cover, in order to strengthen the visibility of the gastronomic offer available in our city”.

In this regard, the mayor noted that “as a novelty, this year we will have special prizes for customers who rate the tapas through the webapp, so it is another attraction and an incentive to visit our local restaurants and taste the gastronomic proposals during the month of May,” and announced that “in the coming days we will announce the prizes that will be awarded to customers who come and value the tapas of this route”.

“We hope to repeat the success of participation of establishments of the previous edition and have again with local restaurants throughout the municipality, since what we seek is to value the gastronomy of Santa Cruz and, above all, the quality of local produce,” said the mayor, who reported that “once the deadline for registration for catering establishments, will begin the promotion of this gastronomic route and will run from 10 to 31 May.
