More than 40 establishments sign up for the II Gastronomic Route “Taste the May Festivities”.

More than 40 catering establishments of Santa Cruz are registered in the II Gastronomic Route “Taste the Fiestas de Mayo”. This has been reported by the CEO of the Development Company, Alfonso Cabello, who recalled that “the registration period for local interested in participating will remain open until May 9”.

In this way, the mayor explained that “for the second consecutive year we celebrate this route in which, within the framework of the founding festivities of the city, we intend to position the capital of Tenerife as a highlight of the Canarian gastronomy and disseminate the wide range of establishments that are in the heart of Tenerife” and added that “this gastronomic initiative, based on products of our land, will run until late May and whose registrations are free and can be completed from the following form“.

“The response from the catering network is being very positive, as today we have more than 40 local registered, and with very attractive culinary proposals,” said Cabello, who added that “some stand out as the Sintonía Gastrobar Tosta, which will offer ‘Delicia del Mar’, a subtle base of Philadelphia and pesto, prawns flambéed in brandy, American sauce, canary tomato confit and basil; or Ayumama Real Food’s ‘Tapita arepa’, an arepa, chia and spinach filled with Canarian almogrote with mixed greens (arugula, lamb’s lettuce, red lettuce and watercress)”.

The mayor also explained that “the gastronomic route, aims to cover the 5 districts of Santa Cruz and consists of tapa and drink for 3.5 euros, with the possibility of taking it on the premises or pick it up at the establishment to taste it at home” and stressed that “with this type of initiative we try to propose attractive actions for both the fabric of the restoration and for citizenship, in fact, in the first edition involved 69 establishments that dispensed a total of 4.257 tapas, a very striking data and that comes to consolidate the idea that these initiatives are attractive for the sector and also for the population”.

Cabello also noted that “we will again have a webapp, which proved in the last edition to be a very useful tool, and recorded some very important indicators such as 216,631 page views, 9,790 unique users, the 1.009 ratings of the tapas by the public” and added that “in this edition, the webapp will include information on the participating establishments, the tapas offered, the ingredients, as well as the schedule in which each local dispenses the cover, and will feature a voting system for the best cover, in order to strengthen the visibility of the gastronomic offer available in our city”.

In this sense, the mayor noted that “in addition, thanks to the collaboration of several companies, customers who vote for the gastronomic proposals may qualify for several special prizes through a voting system that will enable the webapp, so it is another attraction and an incentive to visit our local restaurants” and announced that “in the coming days we will announce the prizes that will be awarded to customers who come and value the tapas of this route”.

“We hope to repeat the success of participation of establishments of the previous edition and have again with local restaurants throughout the municipality, since what we seek is to value the gastronomy of Santa Cruz and, above all, the quality of local produce,” said the mayor, who reported that “once the deadline for registration for catering establishments, will begin the promotion of this gastronomic route and will run from 10 to 31 May.
