More than 20 tourism and hotel resources of Santa Cruz adhere to SICTED

The Development Company leads the implementation of the Spanish Tourism Quality System in Destination (SICTED) in the capital of Tenerife, which will last until June 2021.

More than 20 tourist resources, hotels and places to visit in Santa Cruz have joined the Integral System of Spanish Tourist Quality in Destination (SICTED), which is being led in the capital city of Tenerife by the Development Society. This has been reported by the second deputy mayor and councilor for Economic Promotion, Evelyn Alonso, who has detailed that “in this first phase we are working with more than 20 establishments that have joined the project in order to improve the quality of tourism, as well as the implementation of advanced Best Practices to reduce the spread of COVID-19”.

In this regard, Alonso recalled that “the Development Society of Santa Cruz promotes the implementation of SICTED, where one of the first actions is the promotion of advanced Good Practices established by the Spanish Tourism Quality System (STCE) as a safe destination and prepared against COVID-19 among tourism companies in the capital of Tenerife” and noted that “for the proper implementation of the SICTED model we are conducting training and advisory activities with companies”.

Evelyn Alonso has also positively assessed the first works developed regarding the implementation of SICTED in Santa Cruz, and has reiterated that “the Development Society is the managing entity responsible for the project in front of the Secretary of State for Tourism, and those who assume the commitments for the implementation of the system and coordinate all the actions foreseen in the same”.

Likewise, he explained that “in this phase, the companies, tourist resources and places to visit in Santa Cruz are working to apply the Good Practices manual corresponding to their trade, proposing improvements to their establishment, receiving training and personalized advice with the ultimate goal of obtaining the ‘Commitment to tourism quality’ badge that recognizes the effort and commitment to quality and continuous improvement”.

The councilwoman also recalled that “on the website www.elcorazondetenerife.com there is an informative ‘minisite’, both in English and Spanish, with all the details of the project, so that the companies, establishments or tourist resources that wish to join the project, and whose main objective is to achieve a homogeneous level of quality in the services offered to the tourist”.

Finally, Evelyn Alonso explained that “the current SICTED period, which will last until June 2021, contemplates numerous actions, although in the coming months we will continue with the recruitment and adhesion of companies, their evaluation to obtain the distinction; as well as with the development of the online training program, among others”.

The Integral System of Spanish Tourism Quality in Destinations (SICTED) is a program developed by the Secretary of State for Tourism, which is also the driving force behind the methodology and who directs and coordinates the project at the national level, and in the case of Santa Cruz, it is supported by the Government of the Canary Islands and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).
