Skills to grow as a professional and with your business

The City Council of Santa Cruz, through the Development Society of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, has launched an interesting free training project with which hotel and catering professionals can acquire new digital skills related to the design and brand image of their establishment, tools to better relate to customers and give visibility to the business, as well as obtain professional qualifications based on their experience.

Another important part of the initiative, which ends in February 2023, is dedicated to professional personnel selection processes, contracts, payroll and human resources management.

Contents

The contents are structured around an online catalog and a program of face-to-face sessions, which take place at the Santa Cruz Municipal Training and Employment Center, located in the Miramar neighborhood. Called Knowledge Capsules, these activities take place in the mornings, in three-hour sessions and in small groups.

Here you can learn from basic computer skills, digital photography to how to manage your email, do a job interview, define and analyze a payroll, an employment contract or how and where to look for a job or post a job offer to recruit staff for your business.

Another of the contents that are of special interest for the hotel and catering sector, and especially for the self-employed, is the DNI-e, Sistema Clave and electronic certificate workshop.

These tools allow the identification, authentication and digital signature of personal certificates before all public administrations. Simple and secure, it saves a lot of time in travel, queues and procedures by solving a wide range of procedures with just a couple of clicks from your cell phone or computer.

Professional qualification training program

The municipality’s training program was presented by Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez, accompanied by the CEO of the Development Company, Alfonso Cabello, and also includes a capsule aimed at workers with work experience or who have completed non-formal training courses and are seeking to obtain an official professional qualification.

In these sessions, participants are guided by municipal trainers to apply to the regional government for accreditation of their theoretical knowledge and thus obtain a diploma through a simple practical test.

Thus, for example, a cook who proves that she has extensive experience or has completed a non-regulated training cycle will be eligible for a professional qualification certificate. This is an official document, recognized by the Ministry of Education, and is valid throughout the State. These accreditations can also lead to a vocational training qualification, which increases employability.

The calendar of activities can be consulted on the website www.empleasantacruz.com or on the Facebook profile @AgenciaColocacionSCTF. Meanwhile, the reservation of a place can only be made through the Emplea portal.

In parallel, the Development Society’s YouTube channel offers a series of short workshops of eight Digital Transformation Pills. Anyone interested in acquiring basic knowledge for the management of social networks can consult online talks on “Digital communication on Instagram”, “The image on the Internet: mobile photography” or “How to make commercial campaigns on Facebook”, among others. You will find the pills on www.santacruzescomercio.com or Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1dK2GvNIyzt_d2C7VyTRmvYFuwxJFfH3.
