Benijo
Benijo is a paradisiacal enclave located in the Anaga Rural Park. It is famous for its beaches and sunsets. It is a very beautiful and unique environment where it is mandatory to let yourself be wrapped by the sea and caressed by the sand and the wind.
The access road to this point of Anaga is a narrow and winding road full of laurel forest that takes us back in time to prehistoric times. On the way, we will find the impressive Massif and enjoy the rugged terrain to the beach of Benijo, the most isolated of the town of Taganana, which is reached via stairs drawn on the slope itself.
This unique corner of nature in all its essence allows you to disconnect all day on a thin layer of black sand, admire the rocks and eat typical dishes in the establishments in the area, very close to the parking lots where you can leave your car or motorcycle.
The small hamlet of Benijo is composed of about twenty houses. It was founded in 1536, when houses, huts, wineries and even a wine press began to be built here. There are now several Canarian food restaurants open, which are an indispensable stop along the way to get your strength back, whether you have been hiking or enjoying the beach. Here are some recommendations:
El Mirador restaurant is located in the farmhouse and serves seafood, Mediterranean and Spanish cuisine at good prices. It is a good idea to stop here, where good service and good food are not lacking. It also has fantastic views.
El Frontón restaurant, also located near Benijo beach, offers Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine and seafood dishes. It serves lunch and dinner and those who visit speak of excellent food and spectacular views at good prices.
Venta Marrero is another establishment that offers, like the previous ones, Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine and seafood dishes. Also, being in the same area, it has unbeatable views of the Roques and the surroundings.
The guachinche Casa Paca is a secluded place where a variety of food is served with generous portions of Canarian gastronomy and also offers how not? fantastic views.
If you like nature in its purest state, you cannot miss Benijo beach. You will enjoy a unique landscape on the island with privileged views of the Roques de Anaga. The sunsets are magical, especially when the blue of the sea mixes with the red of the horizon and the silhouettes of the volcanic rocks emerging. Some prints that remain in the retinas.
