The Product Club is consolidated by the quality of its program, the excellence of its speakers, and a remarkable turnout over the three days.
The “Degusta Santa Cruz” stand concluded its participation today at the Canary Islands Gastronomic Fair – GastroCanarias 2025, with a very positive outcome that confirms the success of the proposal presented by the Development Society. This was announced by the Mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, who explained that “for three intense days, the capital’s space has been a constant focus of attraction for hundreds of visitors, demonstrating the vitality and appeal of Chicharrera cuisine and local products.”
In this regard, Bermúdez indicated that “the “Degusta Santa Cruz” Product Club, with its more than 300 participating establishments, has exhibited a high-quality program, characterized by its diversity and the excellence of its speakers,” and added that “the carefully curated agenda has offered a complete tour of the municipality’s culinary identity, from the most deeply rooted traditions, especially those linked to the Anaga Biosphere Reserve, to the most avant-garde trends and emerging projects that define the future of the sector.”
“GastroCanarias has once again been a magnificent opportunity to showcase Santa Cruz’s potential as a gastronomic city,” explained Bermúdez, who added that “we have not only showcased the talent of our professionals, but also the value of our culinary identity, which is born from the territory, from Anaga, from the markets, and from the creativity of our chefs. Therefore, ‘Degusta Santa Cruz’ is now a seal that proudly represents a dynamic, diverse city with its own flavor.”
For her part, Carmen Pérez, CEO of the Development Company, noted that “over the course of these three days, the ‘Degusta Santa Cruz’ stand has been a hive of activity, with hundreds of visitors passing through every day,” adding that “a total of 19 activities have taken place, including 16 cooking shows, 2 tastings, and 1 round table discussion, with the participation of renowned chefs, pastry chefs, winemakers, and industry experts, who have shared their knowledge and passion with a large audience.”
“Among the proposals most appreciated by attendees, according to the impressions gathered, were the quality and variety of the products presented, the originality of the new gastronomic projects that focus on fusion and fusion, the opportunity to interact directly with the chefs, and the interest generated by the presentations on trends and KM0 products,” explained Pérez, who added that “the general response from the public has been very enthusiastic, appreciating the opportunity to learn about the municipality’s gastronomic richness firsthand.”
“Since its creation in 2016, ‘Degusta Santa Cruz’ has evolved from a sector-specific initiative to a key tool within the local development strategy. In this new phase, it has experienced a boost by consolidating itself as an initiative aligned with the roadmap outlined by the Strategic Tourism Plan and the Santa Cruz Trade Master Plan,” Pérez highlighted, adding that “this consolidation has strengthened its regional and national positioning, with a prominent presence at events such as Madrid Fusión and San Sebastián Gastronomika, and a leading role at GastroCanarias.”
Pérez also concluded that “this development demonstrates the progress of the Tenerife capital and reaffirms its commitment to a clear goal: making Santa Cruz the gastronomic capital of the Canary Islands.”
A final day of haute cuisine and local flavor
During this final day, the Santa Cruz space continued to offer an engaging and diverse program. The morning began with “New Trends in Pastries” presented by Madre Mía Rolls, which surprised with their creativity and flavor. A special and emotional moment was the talk “Taste Santa Cruz, 10 Years of Investing in Our Gastronomy,” where the CEO of the Development Society, Carmen Pérez, reviewed the evolution, achievements, and future challenges of the product club in its first decade of existence.
Next, La Chachi Restaurant offered the cooking show “Santa Cruz, Traveling Palate and Local Produce,” a demonstration of how global influences can enrich local cuisine when worked with respect and knowledge. Renowned chef Nacho Solana gave a valuable presentation on “Kilometers and New Trends,” highlighting the importance of local produce and sustainability in today’s haute cuisine, generating great interest among the professionals in attendance.
The afternoon was dedicated to “New Gastronomic Projects,” with a presentation by Pezka and its innovative approach to “fusion with a Canarian soul,” an example of the entrepreneurial talent flourishing in the city. JR. ROASTERS filled the stand with the “Aromas of Santa Cruz” in a demonstration about specialty coffee, from bean to cup. Finally, Degusta Santa Cruz’s participation culminated with the lively showcooking “Los tardeos de Santa Cruz: mira el Atlántico,” which celebrated the capital’s culture of leisure and enjoyment.
The success of this participation in GastroCanarias 2025 reinforces the commitment of the “Degusta Santa Cruz” Product Club and the Development Society to promoting and fostering the hospitality sector and local produce, laying the groundwork for future initiatives that will continue to position Santa Cruz de Tenerife as an indispensable culinary destination in the Canary Islands.
