“Degusta Santa Cruz” continues its successful gastronomic exhibition at GastroCanarias

The capital’s stand is catching the public’s attention with a varied agenda focused on local produce, tradition, and new culinary trends.

The “Degusta Santa Cruz” stand shone for the second consecutive day at the Canary Islands Gastronomic Fair – GastroCanarias 2025, consolidating its position as one of the most popular and dynamic venues at the fair. This was announced by the Mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, who explained that “the program, promoted by the Development Society through the ‘Degusta Santa Cruz’ Product Club, has continued to attract a large professional and general public interested in the quality and diversity of Chicharrera cuisine.”

Bermúdez stated that “with this initiative, the “Degusta Santa Cruz” Product Club demonstrates its firm commitment to promoting the restaurant sector and local produce, offering an exceptional visibility platform for its more than 300 participating establishments.” He added that “the careful selection of speakers and activities scheduled for this tenth edition of GastroCanarias demonstrates the commitment to excellence and the representation of the rich culinary offerings that range from the most deeply rooted traditions to the most innovative proposals of the municipality.”

For her part, Carmen Pérez, CEO of the Development Company, reported that “the large influx of visitors to the Tenerife capital’s stand during these first two days confirms the growing interest in the gastronomy of Santa Cruz, which is positioned as a benchmark for quality and authenticity in the Archipelago.” She also noted that “in addition to the talks, workshops, and showcookings, the Santa Cruz stand has a display area for Anaga products, where tastings will be held, and information about the Degusta Santa Cruz Product Club will be provided.”

Diversity of flavors on the second day

Wednesday, the “Degusta Santa Cruz” stand kicked off with the “flavor and technique” program from Cayote Restaurant, which offered a demonstration of creative and refined cuisine, showcasing the latest trends in Canary Island produce. Mid-morning, attendees were able to immerse themselves in the uniqueness of the region’s wines with the “Táganan Tasting: Wines Born in the Protected Landscape,” a tour of unique wines shaped by the Anaga region’s terrain and climate, presented by Roberto Santana of Bodegas Envínate.

The Nuestra Señora de África Market, La Recova, took center stage with the show cooking event “Cooking the Market,” where dishes were prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients, highlighting the importance of this iconic space as a living pantry and the heart of the city. The renowned Etéreo Restaurant by Pedro Nel once again captivated the public with its “thoughtful, and restrained fusion” exhibition, showcasing the elegance and balance of its culinary offering, which combines international influences with local roots.

The afternoon was rounded out with the cooking show “Sweeting Santa Cruz,” led by the bakery of Como en Casa Lila, who shared some of their most iconic recipes and the secrets of their artisanal flavors. Anaga Experience featured “Anaga, from the Territory to the Plate,” a presentation that highlighted the connection between the products of the Biosphere Reserve and a cuisine with its own identity, showcasing the versatility of the mountain range’s food. The day concluded with the presentation “Healthy, Sustainable, and Local Gastronomy,” offered by La Verdulería.
